End-of-Studies Internship – Humanoid Robot Programming (R&D) – 6 months

Bordeaux, France

Contract

Publiée le 27 oct. 2026

Le poste

Join our R&D team for your end-of-studies internship. You will work on commercial humanoid robots and make them behave reactively: perceiving their environment and responding in real time, reliably and safely. A permanent position may be offered at the end of the internship.

Your missions

  • Get hands-on with the robots' software development kits (C++ and Python SDKs built on ROS 2)
  • Program behaviors using high-level commands (walking, gestures and pre-recorded motions, arms and hands) and, when needed, direct joint control
  • Use sensors and perception (cameras, LiDAR, mapping, navigation) to trigger reactions: person following, obstacle avoidance, responding to voice or gestures
  • Add human–robot interaction: voice commands, on-screen expressions, LEDs
  • Structure behaviors in a modular way (behavior trees, state machines)
  • Validate in simulation (MuJoCo, Isaac Sim/Gym) before testing on the real robots
  • Measure results (latency, robustness, safety), document and present your work

Interview process

  1. 20-minute call with HR
  2. Technical interview with the R&D lead (projects, ROS 2, code)
  3. On-site meeting with the team and robot demo

Practical information

  • 6-month end-of-studies internship, with possible permanent hire
  • Master's level (Bac+5)
  • Occasional remote work (on-site presence required for robot testing)
  • Stipend according to the applicable scale

Profil recherché

  • Final-year engineering or Master's student in robotics, computer science, mechatronics or embedded systems
  • Strong skills in C++ and Python
  • Hands-on experience with ROS 2 (topics, services, actions); knowledge of DDS (CycloneDDS) is a plus
  • Robotics fundamentals: kinematics, control, sensor fusion
  • Linux (Ubuntu), Docker, Git
  • Nice to have: simulation (MuJoCo, Isaac Sim/Gym), reinforcement learning for locomotion, computer vision, visualization tools (RViz, Foxglove)
  • You enjoy going from code to real robots, and you are rigorous, autonomous and safety-minded during testing
  • Fluent technical English; French is a plus

Travailler chez Icarus Swarms

Working at Icarus Swarms means joining a defense-oriented deep-tech startup developing advanced swarm robotics systems for sovereign, security, and high-end operational applications. The company operates at the intersection of robotics, autonomy, and real-world deployment, with technologies designed to move rapidly from R&D to field use.
